The Ispra (institute for the protection and the environment research) presented the summary report about the national monitoring of pesticides in water in 2007 and 2008. This study showed interesting news about the “usual suspect” neurotoxic insecticides!
"2008 data shows the presence of several substances that were not common in the past. In particular the fungicide carben dazim (found both in surface water and in groundwater) and the insecticides imidacloprid and methomyl. The high frequency of these substances are mainly due to the data provided from Sicily, which, compared to previous years has considerably extended the range of substances they are looking for". (Report, p. 12).
